NEW MOTHER SINGS SOLO AT CADOGAN HALL

Two of the Choir's favourites soloists, soprano Katherine Compton and her husband, the bass, Edward Grint, will be singing in our concert at Cadogan Hall less than three months after the birth of their first baby on 10 March. Their son, Theodore James Crompton Grint, was born on 29th December 2017.

They will be singing in Leonard Bernstein’s enthralling Chichester Psalms, with its evocative middle-eastern harmonies and shades of West Side Story, and Mozart’s Requiem, which the composer was writing on his death-bed. The Requiem has a special place in Ed’s musical career, as it was one of the first works he sang as a soloist, aged 16, at St. John's, Smith Square, with the choirs of the Bromley Youth Music Centre.

Both Ed and Katy have sung at Cadogan Hall with Thames Philharmonic Choir on several previous occasions, notably the Brahms Requiem five months before their marriage at St. Paul's Cathedral in 2014. The couple met at the RoyaI College of Music. Ed is from south-east London and a former choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge; Katy was born in Northampton and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
